New Chapter

Assalamualaikum and hello =)

So I'm saying goodbye to my 'The Diaries of a Teenage Couch Potato' blog posts (at least for now) and hello to a new chapter in life. I'm attending University of Malaya as of this Sunday. I'm having mixed feelings about it. I'm feeling really excited for a completely new experience, yet I'm pretty sure I'll be missing these moments of lazying around doing anything that suits me. But yeah, I think it will do me good. My brain could do with some good old stimulation.

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald,
Or young with scabby knees
Our heads could do with filling,
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot.

Hahaha I love this song! XD

I'll be staying at the 12th College in UM, where all the foundation students (which consists of around 1000+ students) will be staying in. It has a lake and everything! Haha. It's in walking distance of the Foundation in Science Centre and the gym! Me likey. =)

12th College Lake

My mom has been helping me to pack these past few weeks. Umm.. Actually, she's been doing all the packing and I've been doing all the watching. Haha. I'm so lucky to have a mom that takes care of everything for me. Mama's so excited since I'm going to her and my abah's alma mater. So my bag's all packed and I'm ready to go! Now, I have to correct my sleeping schedule. (Sigh...) For the past 6 months or so I've been sleeping wayyyy past midnight, and waking up to the sun above my head. So yeah. That's going to be a challenge. A challenge I'm already failing right now. I guess I'll just adapt when I'm there. =)

The first week at UM will be Orientation Week a.k.a. Minggu Haluansiswa. I've read some blogs about that week, and everyone has a different take on it. Some said it was really fun and a wonderful experience, while others said it was torturous and tiring. I'm guessing it's a little bit of both. Guess I'll find out later. I'm pretty excited. =) I'll update about it in a week or two, or whenever I feel like it. =P

I had a small birthday/farewell gathering at my house last Wednesday with Ain and Naomi. It was really nice. We watched 'The Devil Inside' which scared the hell out of Ain and Naomi. I didn't get that scared because I've watched it before. (Thankfully) Then had Domino's and played Mastermind and Scrabble. It was really fun playing those board games which have been rotting in the cupboard for way too long.

I got the Friendship Keychain from Naomi as a birthday gift. Thanks Naomi <3 Jumping to a totally different topic, I woke up extra early yesterday. I was sooooo excited to watch the American Idol Finale. My prediction from so long ago came true =) Congrats Phillip Phillips! You deserve it 100 percent. (As if he's reading this. haha) He cried while singing his first single 'Home', and I was like 'Awwwwwww' and reaching through the TV screen to give him a hug. Hahaha. Can't wait to hear his songs on the radio =D

Alas, all good things must come to an end. I must say good bye and good night now, and head on to bed. I hope that you'll have a great journey in front of you and good luck in whatever you decide to do!

Bye and peace be upon you. =)

The Diaries of a Teenage Couch Potato Part 3

Assalamualaikum and hello dear reader.

Here I am writing a blog in the middle of the night as always. Not that I have much to do in the morning anyway. So here I am looking through the facebook timeline and my gaze shifted to the side where the birthday notifications are. And it got me thinking. I hardly remember any of my friends' birthdays, even my best friends'. It's not that I don't love them or anything. I'm just not that good with dates, and I hardly even remember my birthday until my parents remind me. So if you, dear reader are are a friend that I forgot to wish on your birthday, my deepest apologies and Happy Belated Birthday! =D

I can't believe that it's been 5 months since I took SPM and been lolling around at home. It has been a looooooong holiday for me. Basically I've been sleeping at around 3 in the morning, waking up at noon, eating, practicing the piano, watching TV, and going on facebook, twitter and YouTube. Well, I guess the piano part is pretty productive. *pats self on the back*

Class schedules have been replaced by TV schedules. Things I CANNOT miss: Monday- Smash 9pm on Diva Universal, Suits 10pm on Diva Universal, Revenge 11pm on StarWorld. Wednesday- The Voice 6.15pm on AXN. Thursday- American Idol 6.05pm on StarWorld. Friday- American Idol Result Show 6.05pm on StarWorld. And Ellen weekdays at 5pm on Channel 5. I could go on and on about the shows I watch but that would take the whole day.

I'm learning Fur Elise now in piano class. I can play the first page albeit slow, but even looking at the second page makes my fingers go jelly. But I didn't think I'll get through Grade 1 alive and still, here I am. =D

New project: I want to learn to play chess! Learning the basics and playing wizard chess with Yan Ru the other day gave me determination. I give most of the credit to the awesome looking chess pieces though.

It's awesome looking, isn't it?

Well, that's all for tonight. Good day to you!

The Diaries of a Teenage Couch Potato Part 2

Hi readers. Hope you've been having a great week so far. Its 12.21am on the 29th of March now. I'm dead tired right now but felt like writing something down. But since now that I'm an official high school graduate and a legitimate potato couch, I'm not accustomed to holding a pen anymore. So here I am, writing a blog, about nothing in particular. =)

In my post graduation period, I've been doing some stuff. I've got my driving license. Heeee. I'm in grade 1 in piano class and can play the piano pretty smoothly, which I am very proud of myself for. *pats myself on the back* I've also been reading books and been watching lots of movies. I read The Immortal Series earlier in the year. It was amazing. I've been reading plenty of other books as well, but I must say The Hunger Games series is one of the BEST series I've read. The whole story is just so well thought out it blows my mind. It was such an emotional roller coaster that while I was nearing the end of the last book, I just broke down and cried. It was THAT epic. And of course I HAD to watch the movie. It was awesome. =) There were some changes they had to do to make the story in the book into a movie, but it's all very understandable change, so it's all good.

I watched a lot of other movies too but fell in love with The Lorax. Crazy cute. And I LOVE the fluffy trees.

On a different note, I'm making myself very proud nowadays. On many different occasions when my mind starts over-thinking about what other people might think, I tell my brain to shut up and do whatever I want to do. I just tell myself, well that's their opinion, and this is my opinion. I should respect their opinion, but I should also respect my opinion and not change it just to be accepted. It's working and it gets easier and easier the more I train my mind to think like that. As they say, the first step is always the hardest.

That's all for tonight folks. Good night =) And may the odds the EVER in your favor.

The Diaries of a Teenage Couch Potato

Hey y'all! How's life treating you? For me right now I feel pretty crummy. Mood swings that favors swinging to the depressingly depressing side. Sigh. I feel weak physically AND emotionally right now. The physical part probably due to the bout of food poisoning / stomach flu I contracted last week, and the fact that its 'that time of the month'. The emotional part probably due to the fact that i feel physically weak all the time, the fact that I get nervous every time before a driving lesson (cause I know some scolding will be in store), and the fact that its 'that time of the month' , AND the fact that I feel pretty lonely. Anyone of my friends out there missing me back who's reading this, please note that I am free for most of everyday, and am open to movies and bowling and sleepovers, or anything really. Hee.

And now to cheer myself up, I shall talk of brighter, happier things.

I've been spending a lot of time on the couch these days. Turns out there's a whole lot of good TV I've been missing out on during my school days. American Idol Season 11 has been AWESOME. The Voice too! Adam Levine... melt~ Haha. And the Sing-Off on Channel 5, which is soooo darn good. For those of you whom have not seen it, you seriously should! Its an a capella (without instruments) singing competition, and the contestants are just so darn good. Like, seriously. [Thursday, 10pm on Channel 5] Oh, and there's a LOT of good movies on HBO, Cinemax, and FOX Movies these days. Award winning movies old and new that are really good. And most of the movie titles, I've never even heard of. For example, The Empire of The Sun, Temple Grandin, Enid, Vanilla Sky, Good Will Hunting. Movies that you've never even heard of, but are SERIOUSLY extremely good.

As I love music so much but cannot produce a single good note from my vocal chords, I have decided to take piano lessons.=) I started the lessons in the middle of January and have been enjoying them a lot. My teacher, Miss Charmaine is very cool, which just adds on to the reasons why I love the lessons. My dad has also bought a really beautiful, Kawai stand piano for me to use, which is just AWESOME. I might take a photo of it later, but not now cause I'm a lazy bum. Hee.
Now, I should be getting to bed. It's 2.30am and I have to get up extra early tomorrow. Driving lesson starts at 8, pickup at 7. Wish me luck! For those driving around the Perling area around 8-9.30 am tomorrow, there might be a slight delay in traffic, which I might be the cause to. Blame my foot for not being a pro in controlling the clutch and causing the car to die in the middle of the road. My bad.

Ok, then. Till the next post, may you have golden irises and may your skin glitter like diamonds in the sun.

Live. Laugh. Love.

Hi

Despite the recent unfortunate event, I'm feeling much better. My friend's been send off peacefully and the people who hurt her behind bars. It makes me feel better knowing that those awful, evil beings are locked up and unable to hurt anyone anymore.

I've also been feeling pretty excited. Although I spend most of my time at home, life is pretty good. Waking up at noon, watching uncountable movies with family, spending time with my friends and family (whether in real life or on facebook or by phone), reading really, really good novels, singing along to my favorite songs (quite horribly, I might add), playing Sim Social on Facebook (which can be REALLY addictive), downloading songs, going shopping with my mom, taking driving lessons, helping Pe'ah with accounts (which I'm really excited about because I feel my brain should stop being dormant and do something productive for a change), playing with my kitties, learning to cook, eating, sleeping as late as possible, and I'm going for piano lessons starting next week! As for college or university, I think I'll enter in the July intake or later. To fill up all that extra time, I' been thinking of volunteering for a good cause. I've been thinking of something that involves teaching kids, or taking care of animals in the animal shelter, or any other good cause. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Toodles, and have a great day!

In memory of a friend

Hi.

It is 2.39 a.m. and as I am typing this, I've just gotten over a massive headache, the headache you get after crying so much your nose gets blocked and you have to breathe through your mouth and you get those jerky breaths. You know the kind. My friend was murdered yesterday morning. I was so shocked when I first heard the news I just stayed quite. Then the thoughts of what she went through and what her family is going through right now passed my mind. Then the tears started to flow. I stopped after a while when I thought she deserves more than to be remembered in such a way. I thought of the few moments we shared years ago and calmed down. Then just now I just couldn't stop myself. To think such a horrible thing can happen to someone, is just... scary. To think that people so cruel and heartless live among us is... unimaginable. Sure I've read of quite similar events in the paper. But having it happen to someone you know, someone in your community, a friend, is terrifying. I can't help but be a little paranoid. What if it happened to someone in my family, a relative, another friend, a neighbor, any other fellow human being even, or maybe even me? I can't stand the thought. But crying won't do anything, will it? It won't change anything. Right now, I pray to God Almighty that her soul will rest in peace, and that her family will be okay in coping with the loss. And I pray that all of us still living will learn to appreciate the true value of life. Rest in peace, Siva. I love you.

When you were born,
you cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life in a manner
so that when you die
the world cries and you rejoice.

The School Experience... Again?

Yesterday, I had the most horrible nightmare. I had gone back in time and I was 11. And I had to go through my whole school experience all over again. It. Was. Horrifying. I literally panicked. Desperate to go back to the future.

Don't get me wrong. I love school. I'm sure many of you do too. But, I am NOT willing to go through the experience again. I do NOT want to get back to the life where I have to get up at 6 every single day and have a bath so early in the morning. I do NOT want to get back to the life where I have to pack up my books at midnight when I'm desperate to crawl into bed. I do NOT want to get back to the life where I developed this shoulder and back ache I suspect came from carrying my heavy school bag to and fro. I do NOT want to have hours of tiring, energy drenching marching practice every time the school sports day or marching competitions come around. I do NOT want to be concerned about the assembly preparations every weekend and Monday and every other formal events day. I do NOT want to be studying the same thing all over again and taking the exams, especially those National Exams all over again. Gosh, even the thought scares me. Let me tell you, I was extremely relieved when I woke up in the afternoon to find myself in my 17 year old body. So relieved that I decided to continue sleeping until 1.30pm. =P

Thing is, 11 years of school is enough for me. I desperately hope I won't be going to form 6 next year. No offense whatsoever to any of you who are in, or planning to be in form 6. It's just that I think that I have had enough and am ready to move on to other things. To school kids reading this, school isn't THAT bad. It's a bitter sweet experience that will stay with you for life. An experience that teaches you many valuable lessons, much more than you'll learn in class, to guide you through the life that comes after school. Don't think that mere exams will lead to success. Be involved in activities and events that you have passion for, as the experience you will get out of them are priceless. Make the most out of those school years and I wish you the best of luck. ^_^

The best things that I got through school has got to be my dear friends. Friends of all shapes and sizes and colours and languages and ages and opinions and backgrounds. The friends that I have grown to love and care for. The friends that have shared my school days, that have been with me through thick and thin, and made the hard days bearable. To my friends, you know who you are, thank you so much. I love you. <3

School has been a blast for me. The experience will stay with me for a long, long time. But, once is enough. Of all the times I have thought, "If only I could go back to those kindergarten days, when I didn't have to worry about anything at all," and "I wish I could undo the last few hours and live it all over again,", well I think I don't want to do that anymore. As people say, there are no coincidences. Everything happens for a reason. I am grateful for the days I have lived and am looking forward to the days yet to come.
